More than 18,000 pounds of trash removed!

There were 24 sites countywide – here are the results:

 

 

1. San Francisquito Creek 

20 volunteers; approx. 200 lbs. of trash, 80 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual item: tickets to the Chicago Symphony

 

 2. Permanente Creek at Rock Street bridge 

48 volunteers; approx. 1,000 lbs. of trash, 200 lbs. of recyclables. Unusual items: metal pieces from train tracks, diving slippers, half a flash light w/batteries

 

3. Calabazas Creek near U.S. 101 and Mission College Boulevard

25 volunteers; approx. 550 lbs. of trash, 200 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual item: 8ft. aluminum lighting fixture

 

4. Saratoga Creek at Maywood Park

15 volunteers; approx. 500 lbs. of trash, 250 lbs. of recyclable.

Unusual item: 2 litter bottle of Barcardi Gold (unopened) 

 

5. Stevens Creek Reservoir at Stevens Creek County Park 

125 volunteers; approx. 1,335 lbs. of trash, 445 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual item: Busted TV

 

6. Wildcat Creek near Fruitvale and Allendale Avenues 

8 volunteers; approx. 200 lbs. of trash, 150 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual items: bike rack, fire extinguisher

 

7. Calabazas Creek at Via Roncole

8 volunteers; approx. 210 lbs. of trash, 30 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual item: shopping cart

 

8. Los Gatos Creek at Vasona County Park

135 volunteers; approx. 600 lbs. of trash, 20 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual items: 6” PVC pipe, large mirror

 

9. Smith Creek at Wedgewood and Grenada Way 

5 volunteers; approx. 28 lbs. of trash, 8 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual item: broken sprinkler head

 

10. Berryessa Creek at Hillview and Paseo Refugio

54 volunteers; approx. 90 lbs. of trash. Unusual items: none reported

 

11. Guadalupe River @ Santa Clara County Alviso Marina

28 volunteers; approx. 910 lbs. of trash, 35 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual items: 100ft. ˝” steel cable, house gutter (plastic), cigarette display stand

 

12. Upper Penitencia Creek @ Penitencia Creek Road

43 volunteers; 1,300 lbs. of trash, 400 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual items: syringe, mattress, bench seat from a van, large PVC pipe

 

13. Upper Penitencia Creek @ Penitencia Creek County Park

20 volunteers; approx. 413 lbs. of trash, 215 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual items: half a metal basket, top half of a boom box

 

14. Coyote Creek at Watson Park 

32 volunteers; approx. 1,290 lbs. of trash, 900 pounds of recyclables.

Unusual items: none reported

 

15. Guadalupe River at Discovery Meadow 

90 volunteers; approx. 2,000 lbs., 150 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual items: Hairdryer, old bird cage, 50’s radio

 

16. Guadalupe River at McLellan Avenue 

25 volunteers; approx. 2,050 lbs. of trash. Unusual items: giant teddy bear on a stroller, giant stuft red dog, divorce papers

 

17. Coyote Creek at Kelley Park 

72 volunteers; approx. 500 lbs. of trash, 50 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual items: tires, shopping cart, antique tractor tire

 

18. Los Gatos Creek at Blackford School

31 volunteers; 200 lbs. of trash, 120 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual items: 14 shopping carts, bicycle frame, Kermit the Frog doll

  

19. Coyote Creek at Hellyer County Park 

150 volunteers; approx. 3,000 lbs. of trash and 500 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual items: lawn mower w/o motor, dead dog, tires, mattress

 

20. Calero Creek at Harry Road and Camden Avenue

37 volunteers; approx. 300 lbs. of trash. Unusual items: none reported

 

21. Llagas Creek @ Villa Ciolino and Edmundson Avenue

26 volunteers; approx. 200 lbs. of trash, 35 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual item: loaded Winchester 12 gage AA shotgun shell

 

22. Edmundson Creek @ La Crosse and Vineyard Boulevard

25 volunteers; approx. 125 lbs. of trash, 45 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual item: soccer ball

 

23. Uvas Creek at Christmas Hill Park  

53 volunteers; 600 lbs. of trash, 10 lbs. of recyclables.

Unusual item: ladies blue pump shoes

 

24. Chesbro Reservoir @ Chesbro County Park  

13 volunteers; 705 lbs. of trash, 60 lbs. of recyclables.
